I chose Mother Teresa because she is an inspiration to other women. She was able to make a difference in millions of people’s lives. She dedicated her entire life to helping other people, without wanting any recognition. This is why she is truly an inspiration to me. Mother Teresa is known to the Catholic Community as God’s gift to humanity. She dedicated a majority of her life to care for the poor and sick. In 1928, she became a Catholic nun to carry out the missionary work and to fully devote herself to God. Mother Teresa’s goal was to spread the message of love and compassion around the world. She spent most of her time in Calcutta. While she was there, Mother Teresa taught poor children and she also educated the adults. She opened up a school for slum children in Calcutta but Mother Teresa noticed that they were lacking basic facilities to treat the people who were suffering. So, she learned medication techniques and treated the sick who could not afford medication, which inspired her to start the Missionary of Charity in Calcutta. Mother Teresa won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her missionary work. She is recognized worldwide for her selfless work still to this day.
